Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 7:59 pm

The Graphics Processor is an important part of the Photoshop software and can make a big difference in the speed and quality of the images that you can create. Photoshop can use the graphics processor to improve the performance of many of the operations that it performs, including importing and exporting images, creating and editing graphics files, and creating composites.

To enable Photoshop to use the graphics processor, follow these steps:

1. In Photoshop, open the Preferences dialog box by choosing Photoshop > Preferences from the menu bar.

2. In the Preferences dialog box, click the Performance tab.

3. In the Performance tab, under the General category, click Graphics Processor.

4. In the Graphics Processor dialog box, select the Use Graphics Processor check box.

5. If necessary, adjust the settings in the Graphics Processor dialog box to achieve the desired performance.

6. Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.

7. Photoshop will now use the graphics processor to improve the performance of many of the operations that it performs.

PRO TIP: If you enable the graphics processor in Photoshop, it may improve performance for some specific features. However, it can also lead to unexpected behavior and slowdowns. We recommend that you only enable the graphics processor if you are having performance issues with specific features and you have consulted with Adobe customer support.
