Does Canva Own My Designs?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 11:41 am

As a designer, you put a lot of time and effort into your work. So it’s understandable that you would want to protect your designs from being used without your permission.

But what happens when you use a free online design tool like Canva? Does Canva own your designs?

PRO TIP: If you use Canva to create designs, be aware that the company claims ownership of your work. This means that you may not be able to sell, license or otherwise profit from your designs without Canva’s permission. If you want to maintain full control over your work, it’s best to create designs using another software program.

The short answer is no, Canva does not own your designs. When you create a design on Canva, you retain all rights to your work. This means that you can use your design anywhere, anytime, without having to give credit or permission to Canva.

So if you’re worried about someone stealing your work, rest assured knowing that your designs are safe with Canva. And if you ever do want to give someone else permission to use your work, we’ve got you covered there too. Just head over to our terms and conditions page and check out the licensing agreement.
