Are Canva Designs Royalty Free?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 12:24 pm

As a general rule, yes – Canva designs are royalty free. That means you can use them for commercial and non-commercial purposes without having to pay any royalties to Canva.

However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.

For example, if you use a design that contains an image from our Premium Image Library, you will need to pay a one-time fee to license that image. Likewise, if you download an individual design element from our Element Marketplace, you will need to pay a small fee for each element.

In both of these cases, Canva will give you very clear instructions on what fees need to be paid and how to go about paying them. So, if you’re ever in doubt, just check the license information for the design or element in question.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Canva designs are not royalty free. If you wish to use a Canva design for commercial purposes, you will need to purchase a commercial license. For more information, please visit: https://www.canva.com/legal/commercial-license

To sum up, most Canva designs are royalty free and can be used for commercial and non-commercial purposes without having to pay any royalties. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. If you’re ever in doubt, just check the license information for the design or element in question.
