Can You Erase Part of an Image in Canva?

Last updated on November 7, 2022 @ 2:23 pm

Whether you’re creating a design from scratch or using a template, you may need to erase part of an image in Canva. For example, you might want to remove the background from an image so that it can be placed on top of a colored background in your design.

Or maybe you want to remove a person or object from an image. Whatever the reason, Canva makes it easy to erase part of an image. Here’s how:

Open your design in Canva and select the image you want to erase. Then, click on “Edit,” located in the top toolbar.

Now you can use the eraser tool to erase part of the image. Simply click and drag the eraser over the area you want to remove. You can also adjust the size of the eraser by clicking on the small circle in the middle of the eraser tool and dragging it outwards or inwards.

When you’re finished erasing, click on “Done” in the top toolbar.

Can you use Canva’s background remover indefinitely?

If you use Canva frequently, you’ll discover that there is a daily cap of 500 picture deletions. However, it’s extremely doubtful that a casual Canva user would ever go above this daily limit. In light of this, it can still seem endless. Please bear in mind, however, that the Canva Background Remover is a function available only to Canva Pro users.

PRO TIP: You must first use a background remover to use the erase tool. Take note that background remover is only available for Canva pro users, so if you don’t have an upgraded Canva account yet, it’s not possible to use the erase tool.

Conclusion

If you make even the tiniest error in Canva, you can simply delete the offending element, text, or background and start over. Stick to the aforementioned guidelines, and you’ll have no trouble erasing any components you don’t want from your Canva design.

And if you have second thoughts about erasing something, you can always use the “Undo” button.

Now you can use the eraser tool to erase part of the image. When you’re finished erasing, click on “Done” in the top toolbar.
