How do I qualify for UpWork payment protection?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 9:25 pm

UpWork is a great resource for finding freelance work. However, if you’re not careful, you may end up not getting paid for your work. UpWork offers payment protection, which will help protect you from not getting paid if your project is cancelled or fails to meet its deadlines. To qualify for payment protection, you must first sign up for UpWork’s payment protection plan.

PRO TIP: If you are a client, please be aware that you are not eligible for Upwork payment protection. This protection is only available to freelancers. If you have any concerns about a freelancer you are working with, please contact our support team.

Once you have signed up, you will need to provide your credit card information and the account number for your UpWork account. UpWork will then issue a protection code to you that you will need to include with all payments you make on your project. If your project is cancelled or fails to meet its deadlines, UpWork will automatically reimburse you for any payments you have made on your project up to the protection code.
