How do I make a stencil in Photoshop?

Making a stencil in Photoshop can be very simple or very complex, depending on your needs. There are a few different methods you can use, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The simplest way to make a stencil is to use the Rectangular Marquee tool (M) and draw a rectangular mask around the object you want to stencil. To create a smooth mask, you can use the Smudge tool (Z) to drag the mask around.

Another method is to use the Smart Object feature of Photoshop. This allows you to keep the original image and create a stencil from it. First, select the object you want to stencil, and then click on the Smart Object icon in the toolbar.

PRO TIP: When creating a stencil in Photoshop, it is important to use the proper settings and tools to ensure a clean cutout. Otherwise, you may end up with unwanted jagged edges or unclean lines in your final product.

Next, select the “Stencil” option from the menu that appears. Finally, drag the mask around the object to create the stencil.

The final method is the most complex, but it allows you to create more intricate masks. First, you need to create a mask by duplicating the original image. Next, use the Pen tool (P) to draw a line around the perimeter of the mask.

Finally, use the Eraser tool (E) to delete the areas outside of the line you just drew. This will create a mask that can be used to stencil the image.
