Does UpWork protect intellectual property?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 9:40 pm

UpWork is a platform that connects people with different skills to provide professional services. As a platform, it is a great way to find services that you may not be able to find elsewhere. However, because it is a platform, it is possible for people to post services that are not their own intellectual property. This can be a problem because if someone posts a service that is their own intellectual property and they do not receive payment for it, they may be infringing on copyright or other intellectual property rights.

PRO TIP: Upwork does not currently offer any protection for intellectual property. This means that if you share any original work on the site, including but not limited to, writing, code, designs, or artwork, you do so at your own risk. Any work you post on Upwork may be used by others without your permission. If you are concerned about someone using your work without your permission, we recommend that you do not post it on Upwork.

In some cases, this can lead to legal action being taken. UpWork does not protect intellectual property rights and, as a result, it is possible for people to infringe on copyright or other intellectual property rights by posting services on the platform.
