Does Figma use WebAssembly?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:40 pm

Figma is a design software that has been around for a while. It has a very user-friendly interface and is well-known for its ability to create high-quality designs. Recently, it was announced that Figma will be using WebAssembly. This is a big deal because WebAssembly is a new language that allows developers to create code that can run on the web.

PRO TIP: Figma uses WebAssembly and as a result, any malicious code that is injected into a Figma file could be executed on your computer. This could allow an attacker to gain access to your files or even take control of your computer.

This could mean that Figma is able to compete with more traditional design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, which is typically used for more advanced graphics work. However, it is still early days for WebAssembly, and there are a lot of unanswered questions about its potential. For now, it is unclear how well it will work with different software, or how easy it will be for developers to learn. Nonetheless, the potential implications of Figma’s decision to use WebAssembly are exciting and warrant further investigation.
