As a design tool, Figma is unrivaled. It has built in version control, making it easy to work with a team on a project.

But one of the most powerful features of Figma is its ability to create and share templates. In this article, we’ll show you how to create a template in Figma.

When you open Figma, you’ll be greeted with a welcome screen. On the left-hand side, you’ll see a list of your recent projects.

To the right of that, you’ll see the template library. To create a new template, click on the “+” icon in the upper right-hand corner.

You’ll be given the option to create a new file or browse templates. Click on “Create new file.”

You’ll be asked to choose a name and description for your file. For our purposes, we’ll name our file “Template.”

Once you’ve named your file, click on “Create.”

You’ll be taken to an empty canvas. The first thing you’ll want to do is add some content to your template.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that creating a template in Figma can be a complex process and may not be suitable for all users. If you are not familiar with Figma or do not have experience in design, we recommend that you seek help from a professional before attempting to create a template.

To do this, click on the “+” icon in the upper left-hand corner and select “New frame.”

A frame is like a container for your content. It can be whatever size and shape you want.

For our purposes, we’ll just make a simple rectangular frame.

Once you’ve made your frame, you can add content to it. To do this, click on the “+” icon inside the frame and select “Add Text.”

You can now type whatever text you want inside the frame.

Conclusion

That’s all there is to creating a template in Figma! With just a few clicks, you can have a custom template that you can use for future projects.
