What Are Layout Grids for Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 9:14 pm

Layout grids are a tool for creating consistent layouts. They help you align elements on the page and keep everything in proportion. Figma offers a variety of grid options to choose from, so you can find the perfect one for your project.

There are three main types of layout grids: column, row, and table. Column grids are the most common, and they’re used to create vertical layouts.

PRO TIP: Layout grids are a powerful tool for Figma, but they can be easily misused. When creating a layout grid, be sure to consider the following:

-The purpose of the layout grid. Is it for aesthetic purposes only, or will it be used to help align content?

-The size and spacing of the layout grid. Make sure the grid is large enough and spaced correctly so that it is visible and easy to use.

-The location of the layout grid. Be sure to place the grid in a location that makes sense for your design.

Row grids are used to create horizontal layouts. Table grids are used to create more complex layouts with both rows and columns.

Once you’ve selected a grid type, you can further customize it with the alignment options. You can choose to align the elements in the middle, top, bottom, or stretch them to fit the page.

Layout grids are a great way to keep your design consistent and easy to change. With Figma’s grid options, you can find the perfect way to organize your elements on the page.
