When you want to use data in Wix, you have a few options. You can use the Wix Datasets app, or you can use the Wix Code API.
Datasets are best for small amounts of data that you want to be able to easily edit in Wix. The Code API is best for larger amounts of data, or data that you need to be able to manipulate in more complex ways.

If you’re using the Datasets app, you can create a new dataset by clicking the “Add dataset” button. This will open a modal where you can choose what kind of dataset you want to create. You can either create a new blank dataset, or you can import data from a CSV file.
Once you’ve created your dataset, you can add fields to it by clicking the “Add field” button. This will open a modal where you can choose what kind of field you want to add. You can add text fields, number fields, date fields, image fields, and more.
Once you’ve added fields to your dataset, you can add records to it by clicking the “Add record” button. This will open a modal where you can fill in the values for each field.
You can view your dataset at any time by clicking the “View dataset” button. This will open a modal where you can see all of the records in your dataset. You can also edit or delete records from this modal.
If you want to use your dataset in your Wix site, you can do so by adding the Datasets element to your site and choosing which dataset you want to use. You can then bind elements on your page to fields in your dataset. For example, if you have a field in your dataset called “Name”, you could bind an element on your page to that field so that it displays the name from the record.
You can also use the Datasets element to display all of the records from a dataset on a page, or just some of them using filters. For example, if you have a dataset with records for different products, you could use a filter to only display products from one category on a page.
The Datasets element gives you lots of flexibility in how you use data on your Wix site. experiment with it and see what works best for your needs!
How Do You Use Datasets in Wix?
You have a few options when it comes time to use data sets within Wix- either through the Wix Datasets app or through importing via CSV file.
The Datasets app is great for small bits of data that need easy editing features within Wix.
The Code API should be used for larger projects with data sets or for projects that require more complex manipulation.
Creating A Data Set
A new data set project begins by clicking the “add dataset” button.
This will open up a modal window giving two options: starting with a blank data set or importing from an existing CSV file.
Fields Within A Data Set
After creating (or importing) a data set, fields need to be added before records.
There are many different types of fields that (can be added):
- Text Fields: For short answer questions
- Number Fields: For numerical answers- whole numbers or decimals
- Date Fields: Dates with year/month/day
- Image Fields: Upload an image
Records Within A Data Set
< p style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34);">Records are individual entries within fields and are added by clicking the “add record” button.< / p > After clicking this button , another modal window appears giving users the chance fill out values for each field.< / i > Once all values are inputted , simply click “save” and the entry will populate within the respective field.< / li > If an error is made while inputting values , simply click “cancel” and no changes will be saved .< / p > It’s as simple as that !< / p > Now that all desired information is entered into fields , they’re ready t o be viewed .< / b > To do this , click on “view dataset” which opens up yet another modal window displaying all records within the respective field.< / i > If at any point changes need t o be made , simply click “edit” next t o the desired record .< / span >
Now tha t all information is stored within data sets , they’re ready t o be used on a live website .< / u >
To do this , add t he “Dataset s” element t o th e site and select which set should populate . Then bind elements on pages t o respective fields so tha t information displays as intended .< / p >
This element gives users great flexibility over how informatio n is used and displayed throughout different pages on th e website . So play around with it until desired results are achieved !
