How Do I Change RGB to CMYK in Figma?

Last updated on January 23, 2023 @ 2:19 pm

Most of the time, when you’re creating graphics for the web, you’ll be working in the RGB color mode. RGB stands for red green and blue and is the color mode that is used by screens to display color.

However, there are some occasions when you’ll need to convert your RGB colors to CMYK. CMYK stands for cyan magenta yellow and black and is the color mode used by printers.

So how do you convert RGB to CMYK in Figma? It’s actually quite simple:

PRO TIP: In Figma, you cannot change an RGB color to a CMYK color. This is because Figma uses the sRGB color space, which does not support CMYK colors. If you try to change an RGB color to a CMYK color, the color will be converted to the closest sRGB color.

1. Open your design in Figma

Open design file in figma

2. Click on the “File” menu in the top left corner of the screen

3. Click “Export” from the drop-down menu

Go to Figma file and click export

4. In the “Export” dialogue box, select “CMYK” from the “Format” drop-down menu

In the Figma export dialog box, search for CMYK format

If the option doesn’t appear, you probably need to install a plugin first:

First, go to Figma “Resources” icon, go to the plugin tab and search for the “TinyImage Compressor” plugin then click “Run” to start

Go to Figma resources tab and search for tinyimage plugin then click run

Next, in the TinyImage dialog box, click the “Create PDF” button

In the Figma Tinyimage plugin, click create pdf option

Finally, in the dialog box, check the frame you want to export, and in the “Format” field select the CMYK color profile format

In the Figma Tinyimage plugin create a pdf dialog box, select CMYK format then click export PDF

5. Click “Export” to save your design in CMYK format

And that’s it! You can now continue working on your design in CMYK format.
