The short answer is yes, you can import Figma to Principle. The process is a bit involved, but it is possible. Let’s take a look at how to do it.

In order to import your Figma designs into Principle, you’ll first need to export them as PNG or JPEG files. To do this, open your Figma project and select the “File” menu item.

Then, choose “Export” and select “PNG” or “JPEG” from the drop-down menu. Choose a location to save the files and click “Export”.

Now that you have your design files exported, open Principle and create a new project. Give your project a name and choose the “Custom” option from the Template Browser. Click “Create”.

In the resulting project window, delete the default Rectangle layer. Then, go to the “File” menu and choose “Import”. Select the images you exported from Figma and click “Open”.

PRO TIP: Figma is a vector drawing app with some animation features, while Principle is a fully-featured animation app. It is possible to import Figma files into Principle, but doing so may result in loss of some features or fidelity in the animation.

Your imported images will appear as new layers in the Layers panel. You can now begin creating your animation using these layers.
