Can You Take User Input in Figma?

Last updated on November 26, 2022 @ 11:36 am

User input is a broad term that covers everything from text fields to checkboxes. In general, you can take input from a user in Figma in one of two ways:

1. By using a Text field

Figma has a built-in text field component that you can use to take input from a user. To use it, simply drag and drop the component onto your canvas and then double-click on it to edit the placeholder text.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to take user input in Figma, be aware that there are some potential security risks. User input can be used to inject malicious code into your design, which could allow an attacker to take control of your account or steal sensitive data. If you must take user input, be sure to sanitize it and only allow trusted users to access your design.

2. By using an Input field

If you need more control over how the input looks or functions, you can use an input field.

To do this, create a frame on your canvas and then add a rectangle inside of it. Next, go to the properties panel and change the Rectangle’s type to “Input Field”.

Conclusion:

You can take user input in Figma in one of two ways: by using a Text field or by using an Input field. If you need more control over how the input looks or functions, you can use an Input field.
