Can I Customize WooCommerce Shop Page?

Last updated on January 11, 2023 @ 12:17 pm

The WooCommerce shop page is the page that displays all of your products. By default, it shows a grid of products, with some basic information about each one. If you want to change how this page looks, you can do so by customizing the WooCommerce shop page template.

There are two ways to customize the WooCommerce shop page template: through the WordPress Customizer, or by editing the template file directly.

Through the WordPress Customizer

To customize the WooCommerce shop page template through the WordPress Customizer, go to Appearance > Customize. On the left hand side of the screen, you will see a list of options that you can change. These include the colors, typography, and layout of your shop page.

Under the Layout section, you can change how many products are displayed on each row, and how many rows are displayed on each page.

Under the Typography section, you can change the font family and size for the product name and price.

You can also change the color of these elements under the Colors section.

Once you have made your changes, click on the Save & Publish button at the top of the screen to save your changes.

Editing the Template File Directly

If you want more control over how your WooCommerce shop page looks, you can edit the template file directly. To do this, go to Appearance > Editor.

On the right hand side of the screen, you will see a list of files that make up your theme. Find the file called archive-product.php and click on it to open it in the editor.

This file contains the code that determines how your WooCommerce shop page looks. You can make changes to this file directly, or you can create a child theme and make your changes there.

If you make changes to this file directly, they will be lost when you update your theme. That’s why it’s always best practice to create a child theme first.

The WooCommerce shop page is a powerful tool for ecommerce sites running on WordPress. By default, it shows a grid of products with some basic information about each one. However, with a few clicks through Appearance > Customize, or by editing archive-product.php directly (if more control is needed), store owners can change how their shop pages look – from colors and typography changes to layout modifications – giving their customers a unique experience befitting their brand.

PRO TIP: If you are considering customizing your WooCommerce shop page, be aware that this may impact your ability to receive updates and support from WooCommerce. Additionally, customizations made to your shop page could be lost if you switch themes or make other changes to your WooCommerce setup.
