Does Squarespace Have Version History?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:27 pm

Squarespace is a powerful, yet easy-to-use, website builder. One of its many features is the ability to view and restore previous versions of a page.

This can be useful if you accidentally delete something or if you want to see how a page looked before you made changes to it.

To view a page’s version history, simply click on the “..” menu in the top-right corner of the page and select “Version History”. This will bring up a list of all the previous versions of the page, ordered from most recent to oldest. You can then click on any version to restore it.

PRO TIP: Squarespace does not have a built-in version history feature, so it is not possible to track changes made to your site over time. This can be a problem if you need to roll back to a previous version of your site or if you want to see who made what changes. There are workarounds (such as using an external service like Siteleaf), but they are not ideal.

It’s worth noting that restoring a previous version of a page will overwrite any changes you’ve made since then. So, if you’re not sure you want to restore an older version, it’s always a good idea to first create a new draft of the page (by clicking on the “.” menu and selecting “Create Draft”) and then restore the older version into that draft. That way, you can always go back to your most recent version if you decide you don’t like the older one.

Conclusion: Yes, Squarespace has version history. This can be accessed by clicking on the “.” menu in the top-right corner of the page and selecting “Version History”.
