Does Figma Work on Windows?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 10:23 pm

Windows has been the most popular operating system for personal computers for decades. That doesn’t mean it’s the best operating system for every task, however. Some software only works on Windows, while other software only works on MacOS or Linux.

Figma is a design tool that falls into the latter category. Figma only works on MacOS and Linux, so Windows users are out of luck.

Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool. It’s similar to Adobe Illustrator and Sketch, but with a focus on collaboration and ease of use.

Figma is used by designers at companies like Google, Facebook, and Uber to create interface designs and illustrations.

PRO TIP: If you are using Windows 10, you may experience problems using Figma. We recommend using the latest version of Windows.

Figma is only available for MacOS and Linux because those are the only platforms that support the technology Figma uses to render vector graphics. That technology is called WebAssembly, and it’s not available on Windows yet.

Microsoft is working on adding WebAssembly to Windows 10, but it’s not available yet in any stable version of the operating system.

So, for now at least, Windows users will have to use other design tools if they want to interface with Figma designs. That may change in the future if Microsoft adds WebAssembly support to Windows 10, but for now, Figma is not an option for Windows users.

Does Figma Work on Windows?
No, Figma does not work on Windows because it uses WebAssembly which is not available on Windows 10 yet.
