What Authenticator App Does UpWork Use?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 9:42 pm

Authenticator apps are used to provide an extra layer of security when logging in to online accounts. They do this by generating a unique code that is required in addition to your username and password. The code is only valid for a short period of time, so even if someone manages to steal your password, they would also need to have the code, which would be very difficult to do.

UpWork is a freelancing platform that requires users to login in order to access their account. For added security, UpWork uses an authenticator app called Authy. Authy is a free app that is available for both Android and iOS devices.

PRO TIP: This question is not allowed on the Upwork Community. If you post this question, your account may be suspended.

When setting up Authy, you will need to provide your phone number and then verify it via a text message or phone call. Once you have verified your phone number, you will be able to add accounts that you want to use the app with.

For each account, you will need to provide the account name and logo, as well as your username and password. Once you have done this, Authy will generate a unique code that you will need to use when logging in to your account on UpWork.

The code generated by Authy is only valid for 30 seconds, so even if someone manages to steal your password, they would also need to have the code, which would be very difficult to do. This makes it much more difficult for someone to hack into your account, and thus helps to keep your data safe.
