As a photographer, you’re constantly creating new content in the form of images. Whether you’re shooting for a client or for your own portfolio, you need to make sure that your images are well-protected.

After all, your livelihood depends on your photos! So does Squarespace protect images?

The short answer is yes, Squarespace does protect images. But there’s a little more to it than that. Here’s what you need to know about Squarespace and image protection:

What is image protection?

Image protection is the process of ensuring that your images are safe from unauthorized use. This can include anything from preventing someone from right-clicking and saving one of your photos to stopping someone from stealing an entire gallery of images.

How does Squarespace protect images?

Squarespace protects images in a few different ways. First, they automatically add a copyright notice to all photos that are uploaded to the platform. This notice makes it clear that the image is copyrighted and cannot be used without permission.

PRO TIP: Squarespace does not protect images from being downloaded or stolen. If you are concerned about your images being used without your permission, you should consider using a service that specializes in image protection.

In addition, Squarespace also uses digital watermarking to protect images. Watermarking is the process of adding a small, unobtrusive logo or mark to an image. This mark makes it much harder for someone to steal or misuse an image, as it is clearly identifiable as belonging to the original owner.

Finally, Squarespace also offers password protection for individual galleries and pages. This means that only people with the correct password will be able to view or download the images in a protected gallery or page.

Does this mean my images are completely safe?

No, nothing is ever 100% secure. However, by using all of these methods, Squarespace has made it much harder for someone to steal or misuse your images without permission.

And if they do try to do so, you will have a much easier time taking legal action against them thanks to the copyright notice and watermark. So while nothing is ever guaranteed, you can rest assured knowing that Squarespace is doing everything they can to protect your images.
