How Do You Swipe in Figma?

If you’re new to Figma, or haven’t used a vector drawing tool before, the first thing you’ll need to know is how to select and move your objects around. The easiest way to do this is with the Select tool.

To select an object, simply click on it with the Select tool. To move an object, click on it with the Select tool and then click and drag it to where you want it to go. Alternatively, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge an object in small increments.

You can also use the Select tool to select multiple objects at once. To do this, click on the first object you want to select and then hold down the Shift key while you click on additional objects. All of the objects you’ve selected will be highlighted in blue.

Once you have multiple objects selected, you can move them all at once by clicking and dragging any one of them. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge all of the selected objects in small increments.

If you need more precise control over how your objects are positioned, you can use the Align tools. These tools let you align multiple objects relative to each other or to the canvas. To access the Align tools, click on the icon in the toolbar that looks like two arrows pointing at each other.

The first thing you’ll see in the Align panel is a list of all of the objects that are currently selected. You can use this list to rearrange the stacking order of your objects by clicking and dragging them up or down.

Below this list, there are four buttons for aligning your objects: Left, Center, Right, and Top. These buttons will align all of your selected objects relative to each other or to the canvas. For example, if you click on the Left button, all of your selected objects will be aligned along their left edges.

There are also four buttons for distributing your objects: Horizontal Center, Vertical Center, Space Evenly Horizontally, and Space Evenly Vertically. These buttons will distribute your selected objects evenly across the canvas or relative to each other.

Finally, there’s a button for resetting your alignment changes. This button will undo any changes you’ve made with the Align tools and return your objects to their original positions.

Swiping in Figma is easy! With the Select tool active, simply click and drag horizontally or vertically across your screen to create a selection box. Anything inside this box will be selected when you release your mouse button.

You can also adjust how big or small your selection box is by clicking and dragging one of its corners.

To Swipe in Figma:

  1. With the Select tool active, click and drag horizontally or vertically across your screen.

  2. Release your mouse button when everything you want selected is inside the selection box.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you may accidentally swipe in Figma when you meant to scroll. This can cause you to lose your place or unintentionally select something. Be sure to pay attention when swiping in Figma so that you don’t make any mistakes.

Tips:

  • You can also adjust how big or small your selection box is by clicking and dragging one of its corners.

  • If you accidentally create a selection box that’s too big or too small, don’t worry! You can always adjust it by clicking and dragging one of its corners.
