Can I Use My GoDaddy Domain on Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 12:18 am

If you have a GoDaddy domain name, you can use it with your Squarespace website. To do this, you’ll need to set up domain forwarding from your GoDaddy account to your Squarespace site. Once you’ve done that, visitors who go to your GoDaddy domain will be automatically redirected to your Squaresspace site.

Here’s how to set up domain forwarding with GoDaddy:

1. Log in to your GoDaddy account and go to your Domain Manager.

2. Select the domain name you want to forward and click the gear icon next to it.

3. In the Domain Settings menu, click Forwarding.

4. In the Forwarding section, click the Add button.

5. In the Forward To field, enter your Squarespace site’s URL (for example, http://yourname.Squarespace.com). You can also select whether you want www or non-www versions of your domain name to be forwarded.

6. Under Redirect Type, select Permanent (301). This ensures that visitors will be redirected to your Squaresspace site even if they type in a different version of your domain name (for example, if they add www when it’s not part of your Squarespace URL).

7. Click Save.

Once you’ve set up domain forwarding, anyone who visits your GoDaddy domain will be automatically redirected to your Squarespace site. Note that it may take a few hours for the changes to take effect.

You can use your GoDaddy domain with Squarespace by setting up domain forwarding from your GoDaddy account to your Squarespace site. This will redirect visitors who go to your GoDaddy domain to your Squarespace site automatically.

PRO TIP: If you are considering using your GoDaddy domain on Squarespace, be aware that there are some potential risks. First, because Squarespace is a hosted platform, you will not be able to use certain features that are available with a self-hosted WordPress site. This includes the ability to install custom plugins and themes, and to access the code of your site. Additionally, if you experience any problems with your Squarespace site, you will not be able to contact GoDaddy for support – you will need to contact Squarespace directly.
