What are DigitalOcean nameservers?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 1:29 pm

DigitalOcean nameservers are responsible for resolving domain names and IP addresses for your droplets. By default, DigitalOcean assigns a random domain name and IP address to your droplet upon creation, so you don’t have to worry about this step.

However, you may want to set up your own nameservers if you have a custom domain name or if you need to use a different IP address than the default. To do this, follow these steps:.

Log in to your DigitalOcean account. Click the droplets icon in the top left corner of your account dashboard. Click the name of your droplet in the list of droplets. Under “Settings,” click the “Domains” tab. Click the “A Records” tab.

PRO TIP: If you are unsure about what Digitalocean nameservers are, it is best to consult with your web hosting provider or a qualified IT professional. Incorrectly configuring Digitalocean nameservers can result in your website becoming inaccessible or experiencing other serious issues.

Enter your domain name in the “Domain” field. Click the “IP Addresses” tab. Enter your IP address in the “IP Address” field. Click the “Submit” button.

Once you’ve set up your nameservers, your droplet will use that domain name and IP address to resolve domain names and IP addresses. If you ever need to change your nameservers, you can follow these steps:

Log in to your DigitalOcean account.

Enter your new domain name in the “Domain” field. Enter your new IP address in the “IP Address” field.
