There are a few ways to use markdown in Squarespace.

To format a text block as markdown, type {markdown} followed by the text you want to format. For example, to format a paragraph as markdown, you would type {markdown}

This is a paragraph.

To create a list, use the list item marker “, and then type the items you want to list. For example, to create a list of items that start with a letter, you would type:

    • 1. Apple

    • 2. Banana

    • 3. Cherry

    4. Grape

To create a list of items that don’t start with a letter, you would type:

PRO TIP: Markdown is a text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers. Markdown allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, then convert it to structurally valid XHTML (or HTML).

Using markdown in Squarespace can be tricky and may result in unexpected results. It is recommended that you use caution when using markdown in Squarespace and test your pages before publishing them.

To create a table, you would first type the table header, followed by the table data markers, “` (two dashes), followed by the table cells you want to include. For example, to create a table that has three columns, you would type:

    • 1. Name

    • 2. Age

    3. Occupation

To create a table that has four columns, you would type:

    • 1. Occupation

    2. Website
