Can You Copy View-Only Figma?

If you’re working on a design project, chances are you’ve been asked to use Figma. Figma is a great tool for collaborating on design projects, but what happens when you need to copy something from a view-only file?

Unfortunately, you can’t copy anything from a view-only Figma file. This is because the whole point of view-only files is to prevent people from making changes to the design.

PRO TIP: If you try to copy a view-only Figma file, you will receive an error message.

However, there is a workaround that you can use to get the information you need from a view-only file. First, you’ll need to create a new file and import the view-only file as an image. Then, you can use the “Select” tool to select the area of the image that you want to copy and paste it into your new file.

While this workaround will allow you to copy information from a view-only file, it’s not perfect. The quality of the image may not be as high as you would like, and it can be time-consuming to select the area that you want to copy.

In conclusion, while you cannot copy directly from a view-only Figma file, there is a workaround that will allow you to get the information you need.
