Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 11:02 pm

If you’re job seeking, you’ve probably noticed the Interview in Progress status on some of the job postings on UpWork. But what does it mean?

The Interview in Progress status on a job posting means that the client is currently interviewing candidates for the job. If you’re interested in the job, you can still apply, but know that the client is already talking to other freelancers.

When a client posts a job on UpWork, they have the option to mark it as Interviewing. This means that they are currently in the process of interviewing candidates for the job. If you see this status on a job posting, it’s still worth applying, but know that you may be competing against other freelancers who have already spoken with the client.

PRO TIP: If you see “interview in progress” on a job posting, it means that the client is currently meeting with candidates for the job. Please do not apply to the job or contact the client until the status changes.

The client may choose to mark a job as Interviewing for a variety of reasons. They may be trying to fill the position quickly and are interviewing multiple candidates at once.

Or, they may be waiting to hear back from other freelancers before making a decision. In any case, if you’re interested in the job, don’t hesitate to apply and put your best foot forward.

The Interview in Progress status on a job posting shouldn’t dissuade you from applying. While it does mean that the client is already talking to other freelancers, it’s still worth applying if you’re interested in the job. Just be aware that you may be competing against other candidates who have already spoken with the client.
