Can You Accept Donations on Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 1:41 am

As a general rule, yes, you can accept donations on Squarespace. However, there are a few things to keep in mind before doing so.

First and foremost, you’ll need to have a business or charity license in order to collect donations. You can apply for a license through the IRS website.

Once you have your license, you’ll need to set up a donation page on your Squarespace site. This is where people will go to donate to your cause. To set up a donation page, you’ll need to add a Donation Block to your site.

PRO TIP: Donations are not currently accepted on Squarespace. If you attempt to donate, your donation will not be processed and you will not receive a receipt.

The Donation Block allows you to collect donations via PayPal or Stripe.

You can also choose to collect donations offline and send people instructions on how to do so (such as mailing a check). Keep in mind that if you’re using PayPal or Stripe, there are transaction fees associated with each donation (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for PayPal; 2.30 per transaction for Stripe).

Once you’ve set up your donation page, be sure to promote it! You can add a link to your donation page in your navigation menu, and share the link on social media and in email newsletters. You can also embed a donate button on other pages of your site (such as your home page).

In conclusion, yes, you can accept donations on Squarespace.
Just be sure to have a business or charity license, and set up a donation page using the Donation Block. There are transaction fees associated with each donation, but you can offset those by promoting your donation page.
