Can You Move a Section From One Page to Another in Squarespace?

As you probably know, you can move sections around on your Squarespace pages. For example, you can drag a section from the bottom of one page and drop it at the top of another.

But what if you want to move a section from one page to another without having to rebuild the entire page? Is that possible?

The answer is yes, you can move a section from one Squarespace page to another, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First, when you move a section, any content that was in that section will be deleted. So if you have a section with text, images, or video, you’ll need to add that content back in after you move the section.

Second, if you’re using a template that has multiple pages with the same layout, moving a section will change the layout of all those pages. For example, if you have a three-column layout on your home page and move a section from the middle column to the left column, that change will be reflected on all other pages that use the same layout.

PRO TIP: If you are considering moving a section from one page to another in Squarespace, be aware that this may result in some formatting issues. In particular, if the section you are moving contains images, they may not appear properly on the new page. Additionally, any links within the moved section may need to be updated.

Finally, when you move a section, any anchors and block IDs associated with that section will be lost. Anchors are used to link to specific sections on a page, so if you have any links pointing to the section you’re moving, they will no longer work after the move. Block IDs are used for custom CSS and Javascript, so if you’re using either of those on your site, you’ll need to update your code after moving the section.

In conclusion, while it is possible to move sections from one Squarespace page to another without having to rebuild the entire page, there are some things you need to keep in mind. Any content that was in the moved section will be deleted, so you’ll need to add it back in. Additionally, anchors and block IDs associated with the moved section will be lost.
