How Do You Make a Master Component in Figma?

Last updated on November 29, 2022 @ 6:54 am

Figma is a vector-based design tool that is growing in popularity among digital product designers. One of the reasons for this is its ease of use in creating master components.

A master component is a set of reusable elements that can be applied to different design projects. For example, you might create a master component for a button that can be used across multiple devices and screens. In this article, we will show you how to create a master component in Figma.

The first step is to create a new file in Figma. You can do this by clicking on the “+” icon in the left sidebar.

Once you have created your file, you will need to add a frame. A frame is like a canvas on which you can design your interface. To add a frame, click on the “Frames” tab in the left sidebar and then click on the “+” icon.

Once you have added your frame, you can start designing your interface. For this example, we will be creating a simple button.

To do this, we will need to use the “Rectangle” tool, which can be found in the left sidebar under the “Vector” tab. Once you have selected the “Rectangle” tool, click and drag on your canvas to create a rectangle.

Next, we need to add some text to our button. To do this, select the “Text” tool from the left sidebar and then click on your button and type out the text that you want to appear on it. In this example, we will just be using the word “Button”.

Now that we have our button and text created, we need to style them. To do this, select both the rectangle and the text by holding down the Shift key and clicking on each element. Then, in the right sidebar, you will see all of the styling options for both vector objects and text objects.

For our button, we want to change the fill color to blue and increase the font size of our text. To do this, simply click on each option in the right sidebar and make your changes. Once you are happy with your button, it’s time to turn it into a master component.

To do this, simply right-click on your button and select “Create Component”. This will turn your button into a master component that can be reused across different projects.

Creating a master component in Figma is simple and only requires a few steps.

    1. Create a new file in Figma by clicking on “+” icon.

    2. Add frame by going under “Frames” tab and clicking “+” icon.

    3. Use Rectangle tool under Vector tab to draw rectangle.

    4. Add text by selecting Text tool and clicking on canvas.

    5. Change styling options for both vector objects and text objects.

    6. Right-click on element and select “Create Component”.
