How Do You Make a Moving Animation in Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 12:36 am

Figma is a great tool for creating moving animations. You can use the built-in vector tools to create your own custom shapes, or you can import artwork from other vector-based applications like Adobe Illustrator. Figma also supports bitmap images, so you can create your own frame-by-frame animations or use existing ones from online libraries like GIPHY.

To create a moving animation in Figma, first select the object or objects that you want to animate. Then click on the “Animate” button in the toolbar. This will open the animation panel, where you can specify the start and end keyframes for your animation.

PRO TIP: This article contains outdated information. Figma has since released a new animation tool that makes it easier to create moving animations.

In the animation panel, you can also add easing to your keyframes to create smoother animations. To do this, click on the “Ease” dropdown and select one of the available easing options. You can also add a delay to your keyframes by clicking on the “Delay” input field and specifying a value in milliseconds.

Once you’ve added your keyframes and specified your easing and delay settings, you can preview your animation by clicking on the “Play” button in the animation panel. If you’re happy with your animation, you can export it as a GIF by clicking on the “Export” button and selecting “GIF” from the file format dropdown.

Creating moving animations in Figma is quick and easy. With the built-in vector tools, you can create custom shapes or import artwork from other vector-based applications. Figma also supports bitmap images, so you can create frame-by-frame animations or use existing ones from online libraries.
