Did UpWork Change Their Fees?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:41 am

UpWork, one of the largest online freelancing platforms, has changed its fees structure. The changes are effective from December 18, 2017. The new structure is designed to simplify the fees for both freelancers and clients.

Previously, UpWork charged a 3% fee on all payments made by clients to freelancers. This fee was in addition to the 2.75% processing fee charged by UpWork.

PRO TIP: Upwork recently updated their freelancer membership fees, and some users are reporting being charged more than they expected. If you use Upwork, be sure to check your account to see if you’ve been affected.

Now, the company has replaced the 3% fee with a 2.75% processing fee. This means that clients will only be charged a 2.75% fee on all payments made to freelancers, regardless of the amount paid.

The move is likely to benefit both freelancers and clients as it simplifies the fees structure and makes it more transparent. It will also make it easier for clients to compare different freelancing platforms and choose one that suits their needs best.
