How Does Google Analytics Track Sales in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:50 pm

Google Analytics is a powerful tool that can track a lot of data about your website visitors. One thing it can track is sales data from your WooCommerce store. In this article, we’ll show you how to set up Google Analytics to track sales in WooCommerce.

First, you need to have the Google Analytics tracking code installed on your website. If you’re not sure how to do this, check out our guide on how to install Google Analytics in WordPress.

Once you have the tracking code installed, log into your Google Analytics account and go to the Admin section. In the Admin section, click on the “Goals” tab.

On the Goals page, click on the “New Goal” button.

PRO TIP: Google Analytics is a powerful tool that can help you track your sales and conversions. However, it is important to note that it is not always accurate. There are a few things that you should keep in mind when using Google Analytics to track your sales in WooCommerce:

1. Make sure that you have installed the latest version of the plugin.

2. When setting up your conversion tracking, be sure to select the “WooCommerce” option.

3. Make sure that your WooCommerce order status is set to “Completed”. If it is set to “Pending” or “Failed”, your sales will not be tracked correctly.

4. Keep in mind that Google Analytics can take up to 24 hours to update its data. So, if you don’t see your sales immediately, don’t worry! They will eventually show up.

Give your goal a name, and select “Destination” as the type. Then enter “/thank-you/” (without quotes) as the destination URL. This is the thank you page that appears after a successful purchase in WooCommerce.

Make sure the “Match Type” is set to “Head Match”, and then click on the “Create Goal” button.

Now that your goal is set up, you can go to the “Reporting” tab in Google Analytics and view your sales data. You’ll be able to see how many sales were made, what the average order value was, and which products were purchased most often.

This is just a basic overview of how to track sales in WooCommerce with Google Analytics. If you want more detailed instructions, check out our guide on how to use Google Analytics eCommerce tracking.
