How Can I Create Custom Offer in UpWork?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:51 am

As a freelancer, you have the opportunity to not only work with clients of your choosing, but also to set your own rates. But what if you want to work with a client, but don’t want to commit to a long-term project?

Or what if you want to work with a client, but don’t want to set your own rates? UpWork has a feature that allows you to create custom offers for both of these scenarios and more – here’s how.

When you’re on UpWork, you’ll see the option to ‘Create Custom Offer’ on the right-hand side of the screen, under the ‘My Jobs’ tab. Click on this, and you’ll be taken to a page where you can fill in all the details of your offer.

The first thing you need to do is select the client you want to make the offer to – if you haven’t worked with them before, you can search for them by name or email address. Once you’ve selected the client, you’ll need to fill in some details about the project.

PRO TIP: If you’re considering creating a custom offer on Upwork, beware that this may result in decreased earnings. Upwork’s custom offer feature allows clients to essentially name their own price for a project, which means that you may be undercut by other freelancers who are willing to work for less. In addition, custom offers can be a turn-off for potential clients who are looking for clarity and transparency when it comes to pricing.

In the ‘Project Overview’ section, you’ll need to give a brief description of what the project is and what your role will be. You’ll also need to specify how long you estimate the project will take, and how much you’re willing to be paid for it. If you’re not sure about either of these things, don’t worry – you can always revise your offer later on.

Once you’ve filled in all the details of your offer, click ‘Submit Offer’ and wait for the client to respond. If they accept your offer, congratulations – you’re now officially working on a new project! If they decline your offer or don’t respond within 7 days, don’t worry – just try again with another client.

Creating custom offers on UpWork is a great way to find work that suits both your skills and your schedule. So why not give it a try today?
