The Swap Overlay in Figma is an extremely versatile and powerful tool that can be used for a variety of purposes. Perhaps the most common use for the Swap Overlay is to quickly exchange colors between two layers.

This can be done by selecting the layer you wish to change the color of, then selecting the Swap Overlay tool and clicking on the color you wish to swap it with. The Swap Overlay can also be used to quickly change the opacity of a layer, or to change the blending mode. To do this, simply select the layer you wish to modify, then click on the desired blending mode or opacity in the Swap Overlay.

PRO TIP: The Swap Overlay in Figma can be a great way to quickly and easily swap out images in your design. However, if you’re not careful, it can also be a great way to accidentally delete images from your design. So, be sure to use the Swap Overlay with caution, and only when you’re sure you won’t accidentally delete any important images from your design.

Another great use for the Swap Overlay is to quickly create clipping masks. To do this, simply select the layer you wish to use as a clipping mask, then click on the “Create Clipping Mask” button in the Swap Overlay. This will create a clipping mask from that layer, which can be used to hide portions of other layers.

Finally, the Swap Overlay can be used to quickly create instances of layers. To do this, simply select the layer you wish to create an instance of, then click on the “Create Instance” button in the Swap Overlay. This will create a new instance of that layer, which can be moved and modified independently from the original layer.

The Swap Overlay is an incredibly versatile tool that can be used for a variety of purposes within Figma. By taking advantage of all that it has to offer, you can greatly speed up your workflow and get more out of your designs.
