Are Wix Sites Safe From Hackers?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 2:08 am

Wix is a popular website builder that allows users to create custom websites without having to code. While Wix is a great platform for those who are not familiar with web development, it is important to note that Wix sites are not immune to hacking. In fact, there have been several high-profile hacks of Wix sites in recent years.

One of the most notable hacks occurred in April of 2018 when hundreds of Wix websites were compromised by a group of hackers known as the “OurMine” team. The hackers were able to insert malicious code into the websites which redirected visitors to a page that displayed the OurMine logo and claimed that the website had been hacked.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

PRO TIP: There is no such thing as a 100% secure website and Wix websites are no exception. While our team takes website security very seriously, there are always risks associated with any website on the internet. We recommend that you take steps to protect your own website and data, such as keeping your Wix account password safe and using a secure connection (SSL) when transferring sensitive information.

While the OurMine hack did not result in any sensitive data being leaked, it highlights the fact that Wix sites are vulnerable to attack. There are a number of steps that Wix users can take to help protect their sites from being hacked, but it is important to remember that no platform is completely secure.
