How Do I Make an Invoice on UpWork?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 12:06 pm

As a freelancer, you’re probably used to invoicing clients on a regular basis. Whether you’re a graphic designer, web developer, or writer, chances are you’ve had to send an invoice or two (or fifty) in your day.

But what if you’re new to freelancing, or just new to UpWork? How do you go about creating an invoice on UpWork?

The good news is, it’s pretty simple! Just follow these steps:

1. Log in to UpWork and go to the My Jobs tab.

2. Find the job you want to invoice and click the More button next to it.

3. Select Create an Invoice from the drop-down menu.

4. Enter the amount you want to invoice.

You can either type it in manually or use the slider to select an amount. If you’re not sure how much to invoice, check out our article on how to calculate your freelance rates.

5. Add a description of the work you’re billing for. This is optional, but we recommend including a brief summary so both you and your client know what the invoice is for.

6. Choose when you want your client to pay. You can either set a specific due date or select Net 7, Net 14, or Net 30 (which means the client has seven, fourteen, or thirty days to pay from the date they receive the invoice).

7. Click Send.

That’s it! Your client will receive an email notification about the invoice, and they can pay online with a credit or debit card, PayPal, or bank transfer. Once they’ve paid, you’ll see the funds in your account within 1-5 business days.

Creating an invoice on UpWork is quick and easy – just follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to getting paid for your great work!

PRO TIP: If you are planning to create an invoice on Upwork, be aware that there are some strict requirements that must be met in order to avoid having your account suspended. Make sure that all the information on your invoice is accurate, including your name, address, and contact information. In addition, be sure to include the correct project details and pricing.
