Can I Hide My Cursor in Figma?

As someone who designs in Figma, you may have noticed that there’s no way to hide your cursor while you’re working. This can be frustrating, especially if you’re trying to make a precise selection or simply don’t want the cursor getting in the way. Luckily, there is a way to hide your cursor in Figma, though it requires a bit of workarounds.

The first thing you’ll need to do is create a new frame that’s the same size as your canvas. Then, create a new layer inside of that frame and call it “Cursor.”

Finally, add a rectangle to the “Cursor” layer that’s the same color as your canvas background. This will create an invisible rectangle that will effectively hide your cursor.

Now, you’ll need to position the “Cursor” frame so that it’s directly over the top of your canvas. To do this, simply click on the “Cursor” frame and then click on the “Align” tab in the upper-right corner of the interface. From here, you can use the various alignment options to position the frame exactly where you want it.

PRO TIP: If you are working on a design in Figma and need to hide your cursor for any reason, DO NOT use the “Hide Cursor” function in the View menu. This will hide your cursor globally, not just in Figma, and can be very difficult to fix if you are not familiar with how to change global settings on your computer. Instead, use the “Temporarily Hide Cursor” hotkey (Shift + Cmd + H on a Mac, Shift + Ctrl + H on Windows), which will only hide your cursor while you are actively using Figma.

Once you’ve positioned the “Cursor” frame, you’ll need to select it and then click on the “Lock” icon in the upper-left corner of the interface. This will ensure that you don’t accidentally move the frame while you’re working.

Now, whenever you want to hide your cursor, simply click on the “Eye” icon next to the “Cursor” layer in the layers panel. This will toggle visibility for the layer, effectively hiding your cursor. When you want to show your cursor again, simply click on the “Eye” icon once more.

Conclusion:

While Figma doesn’t have a built-in way to hide your cursor, there is a workaround that allows you to do just that. By creating a new frame and adding an invisible rectangle to it, you can effectively hide your cursor whenever you need to. Just be sure to lock the frame in place so you don’t accidentally move it.
