Can You Feather in Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 9:18 am

Figma is a great design tool for creating vector graphics, but one of its best features is its ability to easily create complex shapes by combining simpler ones. This is called “feathering” and it’s a great way to add depth and realism to your designs. Here’s how to do it:

1. Select the objects you want to feather

First, select the objects you want to feather. This can be done by clicking on them with the mouse or by using the Selection tool (V).

2. Choose the Feather option from the menu

Next, choose the Feather option from the menu. You can find this option under the Edit menu or by right-clicking on the selected objects.

PRO TIP: If you are working on a design in Figma and are considering using the “feather” effect, be aware that this effect can cause your design to look blurry or fuzzy. In some cases, it can also make your text difficult to read. If you do decide to use the feather effect, be sure to test it out on different screen sizes and resolutions to make sure it looks good before you share your design with others.

3. Enter a value for the amount of feathering

Finally, enter a value for the amount of feathering you want to apply. This value is in pixels and represents the distance that the feathered edge will extend from the original object.

And that’s all there is to it! Figma makes it easy to add realistic depth and detail to your designs.
