Adding custom fields to the checkout process in WooCommerce is a great way to gather additional information from your customers. By default, all fields in WooCommerce are optional, but you may find yourself in a situation where you need to make a field required. In this article, we’ll show you how to do just that.

There are two ways to add custom fields to the checkout process in WooCommerce. The first is by using the Checkout Field Editor plugin.

This plugin allows you to add, edit, and delete fields from the checkout form. To use this plugin, simply install and activate it, then go to WooCommerce > Checkout Fields. From here, you can add new fields, edit existing fields, or delete fields that you no longer need.

The second way to add custom fields to the checkout process is by using the WooCommerce Custom Fields plugin. This plugin also allows you to add, edit, and delete fields from the checkout form.

However, it also provides additional features such as the ability to assign custom fields to specific products or categories. To use this plugin, simply install and activate it, then go to WooCommerce > Custom Fields.

Once you’ve installed and activated one of these plugins, you can start adding custom fields to the checkout form. Simply go to WooCommerce > Checkout Fields, then click on the Add Field button. From here, you’ll be able to enter the details for your custom field.

In the Field Type dropdown, select whether your field should be a text field, textarea, select field, radio button field, or checkbox field. Then enter a Field Label, which will be used as the name of your field on the checkout form.

If you want this field to be required, simply check the “Required? “ box.

Once you’ve entered all of the details for your custom field, click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page. Your custom field will now be added to the checkout form.

Conclusion

In conclusion , there are two ways that can help make a certain field required during WooCommerce checkouts: by using either Checkout Field Editor or WooCommerce Custom Fields plugins. After installation and activation of either plugin mentioned , head over to their respected pages on settings (WooCommerce > Checkout Fields or WooCommerce > Custom Fields) and start adding in new required fields with their corresponding labels and types . Lastly , don’t forget save your changes before exiting!

PRO TIP: If you are using the WooCommerce plugin for WordPress, you may want to make a checkout field required. This can be done by going to the Checkout tab in the WooCommerce settings and selecting the field you want to make required. Keep in mind that making a checkout field required may cause issues with some payment gateways.
