If you’re running a WooCommerce store, you’ll want to know how to test PayPal before putting it live. After all, you don’t want to find out that something’s wrong after your customers have started trying to use it!
The good news is, testing PayPal in WooCommerce is actually pretty easy. In this article, we’ll show you how to do it.
Step 1: Set up a PayPal Business Account
If you don’t already have a PayPal Business account, the first thing you’ll need to do is set one up. You can do this by going to the PayPal website and clicking on the “Sign Up” button.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to fill in your business information. This includes your business name, address, and phone number. You’ll also need to choose a currency and a language.
To test your PayPal account in WooCommerce, you will need to create a “sandbox” account on the PayPal website. This is a special testing account that allows you to simulate real transactions without actually using real money. Once you have created your sandbox account, you will need to connect it to your WooCommerce store.
You can do this by going to the WooCommerce settings page and selecting the “Payments” tab. From here, you will need to enable the PayPal gateway and enter your sandbox account credentials. Once you have done this, you will be able to test out the checkout process on your WooCommerce store using the sandbox account.
Once you’ve done that, click on the “Continue” button and you’ll be taken to the next page.
Step 2: Set up Your WooCommerce Store
Now that you have a PayPal Business account, the next thing you’ll need to do is set up your WooCommerce store. If you haven’t already done so, you can find instructions on how to do that here. Once your store is set up, make sure that the “Enable PayPal Checkout” option is selected in the “Checkout” tab of your WooCommerce settings.
Step 3: Install the WPForms Plugin
The next thing you’ll need to do is install and activate the WPForms plugin. WPForms is a WordPress plugin that allows you to create forms and surveys. We’ll be using it to create a simple form that will allow us to test our PayPal integration.
You can download WPForms from the WordPress plugin repository or by searching for it in your WordPress admin panel. Once it’s installed and activated, click on the “Add New” button in the WPForms menu.
Step 4: Create a Form
(This step assumes some familiarity with WPForms. If you’ve never used WPForms before, this article will give you some background on how it works.)
In the “Add New Form” page, give your form a title and select the “Simple Contact Form” template.
Click on the “Create Form” button.
On the next page, you’ll be able to customize your form fields. For our purposes, we only need two fields: Name and Email Address. You can add these fields by dragging them from the left hand column into the right hand column.
Once you’ve added the fields, click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
Step 5: Connect Your Form to PayPal
Now that your form is created, it’s time to connect it to PayPal so we can start collecting payments. To do this, first click on the “Settings” tab at the top of the page.
On the Settings page, scroll down until you see the “Payments” section. Here, you’ll need to enter your PayPal email address so WPForms knows where to send payments.
Scroll down a bit further and make sure that the “PayPal Standard” payment gateway is enabled.
Once you’ve done that, click on the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the page.
Step 6: Test Your Form
Now that everything is set up, it’s time to test your form! To do this, simply fill out your form and submit it.
You should then be redirected to PayPal where you can complete your payment.
After following these steps, testing PayPal in WooCommerce should be a breeze! Just remember to always test before putting anything live.
