Can You Use Your Own URL With Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:08 am

If you’re using Wix to create your website, you may be wondering if you can use your own URL with the platform. The answer is yes!

You can use your own domain name with Wix, and it’s actually quite easy to do. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to set it up.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

First, you’ll need to log in to your Wix account and go to the ‘Domains’ tab. From here, you can either buy a new domain or transfer an existing one to Wix.

If you’re buying a new domain, simply enter the name you want and select the extension (.com, .net, etc.). Once you’ve found an available domain, just add it to your cart and checkout.

PRO TIP: If you are using Wix to create a website, you may be wondering if you can use your own URL with the platform. While Wix does allow you to use your own domain name, there are some restrictions to be aware of. First, your domain must be registered with Wix in order to use it with the platform. Additionally, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan in order to connect your own domain name. If you do not upgrade, your website will still be hosted on a Wix-branded domain.

If you’re transferring an existing domain, enter the name of the domain and select ‘Transfer Domain’. You’ll then need to verify that you own the domain by providing some information about the registrar (where you bought the domain). Once that’s all set, add the domain to your cart and checkout.

Once you’ve purchased your domain, go back to the ‘Domains’ tab and select it from the list. From here, you can change your DNS settings or add records (like www or @). To point your domain to Wix, simply change the DNS settings to:

ns1.wixdns.net
ns2.net

Now just save your changes and your done! Your Wix site will now be live at your custom URL.
