How Do I Add Background Color to a Text Box in Squarespace?

Adding background color to a text box in Squarespace is a great way to make your text stand out and add some visual interest to your page. There are a few different ways you can do this, depending on what you’re looking for.

If you want to add a background color to an entire text box, you can do so by going to the Design tab and selecting the Colors option. From here, you can choose a color for your text box background under the Text Boxes section.

If you only want to color part of your text, you can use the HTML <p>, <b> and <u> tags to style your text. For example, if you wanted to make a word bold and underlined, you would use the following code:
<b><u>Example word</u></b>

You can also use CSS to style your text. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets, and is a language that allows you to control how HTML elements are displayed. To use CSS, you’ll need to add a code block to your page and insert the CSS code into it.

PRO TIP: Warning: Adding background color to a text box in Squarespace can be tricky. If you’re not careful, you could end up with a box that’s too small or too big, and the color might not be evenly distributed.
