Why Can’t I Edit in Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:04 am

If you’ve ever tried to edit text in Squarespace, you know how frustrating it can be. The WYSIWYG editor is very limited, and it’s often hard to get your text to look the way you want it to.

There are a few reasons why you can’t edit text in Squarespace the way you can in other web editors. First, Squarespace uses a unique system for storing and displaying content.

This system is designed to make your content look good on any device, regardless of screen size or resolution. As a result, the WYSIWYG editor doesn’t have full control over how your content is displayed.

PRO TIP: If you are trying to edit in Squarespace and it’s not working, there could be a few reasons why. First, make sure you are logged in and have selected the correct site. If you’re still having trouble, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser’s cache. If you’re still having trouble after that, contact Squarespace support.

Second, the WYSIWYG editor only gives you limited control over the HTML code that makes up your content. You can’t add or remove HTML tags, and you can’t change the CSS styles that are applied to your content.

This means that if you want to change the way your content looks, you have to use the Squarespace interface to do it.

Finally, Squarespace doesn’t allow you to edit your content in raw HTML mode. This mode would give you full control over the HTML code that makes up your content, but it would also make it very easy to break your site.

For this reason, Squarespace only allows you to edit your content in the WYSIWYG editor.

So why can’t I edit my text in Squarespace? There are a few reasons: 1) because Squarespace uses a unique system for storing and displaying content; 2) because the WYSIWYG editor only gives limited control over HTML code; and 3) because raw HTML mode would be too easy to break something on the site.
