Meta tags are snippets of text that describe a page’s content; the meta tags don’t appear on the page itself, but only in the page’s code.
Meta tags are one of the most important elements of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). They help search engines understand what a web page is about and determine whether it’s relevant to a user’s search.

There are two types of meta tags:
1) Meta tags that provide information about the page
2) Meta tags that control how the page is indexed and displayed
The most important meta tag is the title tag. The title tag tells search engines what the page is about. It should be 50-60 characters long and include your Target keyword.
Other important meta tags include the meta description tag and the meta keywords tag. The meta description tag gives a brief description of the page’s content, while the meta keywords tag includes a list of relevant keywords for the page.
While meta tags are important, they’re not the only factor that determines how well your pages rank in search results. Search engines also take into account factors like the quality of your content, your website’s design and architecture, and your site’s popularity.
