Can You Use CSS in Shopify?

Last updated on January 8, 2023 @ 5:21 am

Shopify is a platform for businesses of all sizes to create an online store. It offers users a customizable platform, an easy-to-use checkout process, and a wide range of features. One thing that Shopify does not offer, however, is the ability to style text using CSS.

The reason for this is that Shopify’s themes are designed to be as simple and user-friendly as possible.

Adding CSS would add another layer of complexity that could make it more difficult for users to edit their store’s appearance.

PRO TIP: Some users may be confused about whether they can use CSS in Shopify. While it is possible to add CSS to your Shopify store, it is important to be aware of a few things before doing so.

First, Shopify’s built-in CSS editor is only available for certain themes. If you are using a different theme, you will need to edit your CSS code directly. Second, adding CSS to your Shopify store can potentially break your layout if not done carefully. We recommend only adding CSS if you are comfortable with code and are confident that you won’t break anything.

If you do decide to add CSS to your Shopify store, be sure to test it thoroughly on all browsers and devices before making it live. And as always, if you have any questions, our support team is always happy to help.

That said, there are some workaround methods that can be used to style text in Shopify. These include adding HTML tags such as < p >, < b >, and < u >, or using inline styles. While these methods are not as robust as using CSS, they can still be used to achieve basic text styling.
