What Version of PHP Does WooCommerce Use?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 7:48 pm

Since its inception in 2008, WooCommerce has been a popular eCommerce solution for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Its popularity is due in part to its ease of use and flexibility; WooCommerce can be used to sell physical goods, digital products, and even services.

One of the things that makes WooCommerce so flexible is that it runs on top of WordPress, which means that it can take advantage of all the features and functionality that WordPress offers. This includes things like plugins and themes, which can be used to extend WooCommerce’s functionality or change its look and feel.

WooCommerce is also one of the few eCommerce solutions that is released under an open source license (GPLv3). This means that anyone can contribute to the development of WooCommerce, and there are no restrictions on how it can be used.

So, what version of PHP does WooCommerce use

The short answer is that WooCommerce 3.0+ requires PHP 5.6+. However, we recommend using PHP 7.0+ for the best performance.

PRO TIP: If you are using an older version of WooCommerce, you may be at risk for not being able to take advantage of the latest features and security updates.

If you’re not sure which version of PHP your website is using, you can check by installing the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. Once activated, this plugin will display your website’s PHP version in the WordPress admin Dashboard under the “Site Health” section.

While most eCommerce solutions are closed source and proprietary, WooCommerce is open source and released under the GPLv3 license. This means that anyone can contribute to its development and there are no restrictions on how it can be used.

Additionally, WooCommerce 3.6+, but we recommend using PHP 7.0+ for best performance. You can check your website’s PHP version by installing the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
