How Do I Create a Fixed-Price Contract on UpWork?

As a freelancer, one of the most important things you can do is create a strong contract that protects both you and your client. After all, a contract is a legally binding document that outlines the expectations and duties of both parties involved in a project.

Creating a contract on UpWork is simple and straightforward. First, you’ll need to log in to your account and click on the Jobs tab.

Then, click on the + sign next to Active Jobs and select Create a Fixed-Price Contract from the drop-down menu.

Once you’re on the contract page, you’ll need to fill out some basic information about your project. This includes the job title, description, price, budget, duration, milestone details, etc.

Be as specific as possible so that there are no misunderstandings later on.

PRO TIP: Freelancers who create fixed-price contracts on Upwork are not protected by the Upwork Payment Protection policy. This means that if a client does not pay for work, the freelancer will not be reimbursed.

After you’ve filled out all the necessary information, it’s time to add your client. You can either search for them by name or email address, or you can invite them directly from UpWork.

Once they accept your invitation, they’ll be added to the contract and will be able to view all the details.

Now that everything is set up, it’s time to start work! As you make progress on the project, be sure to update your client regularly so they know what’s going on.
