What Is Fulfillment Status in Shopify?

Last updated on January 9, 2023 @ 6:34 pm

The fulfillment status of an order in Shopify is the current status of where the order is in the fulfillment process. There are four possible statuses for an order: unfulfilled, partial, fulfilled and shipped.

An unfulfilled order is an order that has been placed by a customer, but the items have not yet been picked, packed, and shipped out. A partial fulfillment is when some, but not all, of the items in an order have been picked, packed, and shipped out. A fulfilled order is an order where all items have been picked, packed, and shipped out. And finally, a shipped order is an order that has been marked as shipped by the merchant, which means that it has left the merchant’s facility and is on its way to the customer.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, fulfillment status in Shopify can lead to problems with your orders. Make sure that you understand what each status means and that you update your orders accordingly.

Conclusion

To sum it up – The fulfillment status of an order in Shopify simply refers to where the said order currently is in terms of being processed and fulfilled. There are four different stages to this process – Unfulfilled meaning the initial stage where no work has commenced yet; Partial which indicates that some progress has been made; Fulfilled meaning everything has been taken care of; and Shipped which signifies that the merchant has sent out the product(s) and it/they are now en route to the customer.
