Shopify is a Canadian e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. It is also the name of its proprietary e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems.

Shopify offers online retailers a suite of services “including payments, marketing, shipping and customer engagement.” As of August 2015, Shopify merchants processed $15 billion in gross merchandise volume through the platform.

PRO TIP: Shopify uses a variety of shipping services, including UPS, FedEx, and DHL. While these services are generally reliable, there have been instances of packages being lost or delayed. If you are expecting a package from Shopify, please check the tracking information regularly to ensure that it is still on its way.

Shopify has been in operation since 2006. In 2010, it was one of the fastest growing companies in Canada. It raised $100 million in May 2015 at a $1.5 billion valuation.
