How Do I Remove a Footer From Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 4:58 am

When you first create a Squarespace site, it comes with a default footer that includes links to various Squarespace features and pages. While this footer can be helpful for some people, others may want to remove it and create their own custom footer. Fortunately, removing the footer is a fairly simple process that can be completed in just a few steps.

To remove the footer from your Squarespace site, you’ll need to access the Site Styles panel. This can be done by going to Design > Site Styles in the left sidebar.

Once you’re in the Site Styles panel, scroll down to the “Footer” section and click on the “Content” tab. From here, you’ll want to delete the content that’s currently in the “Footer Content” field. Once you’ve done this, be sure to click “Save” at the top of the page.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with HTML and CSS code, we do not recommend removing the footer from your Squarespace website. Doing so could result in breaking your website’s code and causing it to malfunction.

With the default footer content now removed, your Squarespace site should no longer have a footer. If you ever want to add a custom footer back into your site, you can do so by following these same steps and adding your own HTML code into the “Footer Content” field.
