What Does Private Member on Wix Mean?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:32 am

As a Wix user, you may have come across the term ‘private member’ and wondered what it means. In short, a private member is someone who has been given access to view and/or edit a site that is not publicly accessible.

This could be for a number of reasons, such as if the site is still in development or if it contains sensitive information.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

If you need to give someone access to your site who is not a Wix user, you can do so by creating a private member account for them. This will allow them to log in and view/edit the site as needed.

To create a private member account, simply go to the ‘Members’ tab in your Wix editor and click ‘Invite Members’. From here, you can enter the person’s email address and choose what level of access you want to give them.

PRO TIP: If you are not a member of Wix, you cannot access private members. If you attempt to access private members, you will be redirected to the sign-in page.

It’s important to note that private members are not the same as registered members. Registered members are people who have signed up for an account on your site (usually in order to access exclusive content or features).

Private members do not need to create an account – they will simply be given access to the site with the login details that you provide them.

So there you have it – everything you need to know about private members on Wix! If you need to give someone access to your site who is not a Wix user, simply create a private member account for them.
